Pathway to Housing: 7th Family Reaches Homeownership

The Salvation Army of Osceola County is celebrating a major milestone — another family has closed on their very own home through the Pathway to Housing program. The Quiceno family is the seventh to achieve homeownership this year, with even more families preparing to close before the new year.

Pathway to Housing is more than just an initiative; it is part of The Salvation Army’s nationwide Pathway of Hope program, designed to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty. Through credit counseling, financial education, accountability workshops, and one-on-one case management, families gain the tools they need for lasting stability.

For the Quiceno family, this means raising their children in a safe, stable home they own and building generational wealth that will impact years to come.

“We are beyond grateful to Osceola County and The Salvation Army and all involved for walking so closely beside us,” said the Quiceno family. “From workshops and credit counseling to accountability and encouragement, every step of the way we felt supported and prepared for success. We now look forward to raising our children in our own home and building a brighter future together.”

Emma Peña, Pathway to Housing Program Director, shared, “This milestone is about more than just closing on a house, it’s about breaking cycles and building futures. The Quiceno family’s success shows what’s possible when families commit to the process and when the community rallies together to provide the resources and support they need.”

The program is made possible thanks to the unwavering support of Osceola County Commissioners, Commissioner Peggy Choudhry, Congressman Darren Soto, Housing 4 All, local banks, and nonprofit partners who provide financial literacy and housing resources.

Commissioner Peggy Choudhry added, “We are helping with housing needs in a different format that’s never really been done before, and having people own their own homes,  this is incredible, and we’re going to keep doing it!”

The Quiceno family’s journey proves that with the right support, transformation is possible and it’s only the beginning for more families on their path to stability.
